Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 12

Loid never seems to have a break. There is always something going on, whether it is finding ways to help Anya get eight Stella or dealing with the spy’s tasks. In the last episode, he focused on figuring out Anya’s strength to get a Stella. In this episode, he not only has to deal with his new assignment but also with his gossiping neighbors.

Those neighbors do not know anything about him or his family at all. They just try to paint him in a bad light based on their assumptions, which happens in real life too. Loid hears them gossiping about him in the common areas of the apartment. They wonder why he works all the time and hardly spends time with his family. At one point, they even assume he is cheating on his wife.

Loid is cautious about blowing his cover and approaches the idea of going to the aquarium trip with Yor and Anya as a family. Anya and Yor like the idea, but Yor is concerned about them going the next day. He looks really tired. His eyes droop shut, and his legs are shaking like he is going to fall on the floor any minute now. Still, he decides to go with them, and that is where the spy and family scenes take place in the aquarium.

At the aquarium, he has so many things he has to deal with. He has to find intel that is in one of the penguins’ bodies before a terrorist obtains it. He has to avoid getting any attention in public, especially not drawing any attention from his neighbors, who happen to be there. He has to be on the lookout for any terrorist, even though the details about the terrorist were not mentioned in the conversation between him and the informant earlier. He also has to look for one of the penguins. The problem is, he does not know where to start. There are a plethora of them.

Anya uses her telepathic skills to help Loid find the penguin he is looking for. She points the penguin at the pool and asks what he is doing over there. He looks and sees Parles, the penguin who has a hard time gulping down the water. Loid instantly finds an excuse to pose as a new staff member in order to approach the penguin. He thinks he might be the one, and he is right. When he brings Parles somewhere other than the treatment room, he discovers something in him. He has a mark at the bottom of Parles’ feet, and something is stuck in his throat.

Loid tries to get it out without hurting him, but someone interrupts him. Out of the blue, a man appears from behind and asks him what he is doing with Parles. He answers him briefly without giving much detail. The man who identifies as a professor does not look like that he is an attacker. He has a suit on and an ID to show for it. One would assume he works in the management area, but his manner of speech and the technique Loid uses to check his work ID exposes his cover. Both of them fight, but the man manages to get away. Loid wants to go after him. Then again, he decides not to. He knows what his first priority is, and he does not let his emotions take over his logic.

Regardless of Loid’s decision, one would assume that there is more than one adversary to get intel from. That piece of information is important to them. However, that is not the case here. There is only one attacker, which shows the information is not that important to the opponents, as the informant told Loid earlier.

The end has a happy ending. Anya and Yor help to catch the bad guy, and Loid retrieves the information from Parles. Their neighbors start to see them from a fresh perspective. Loid and Yor join Anya playing the spy game after Loid scolded her for trying to get into a room that she was not allowed to enter.
