The twist and turn of the painting’s hidden file provides the context of the humor. If you watch the last two episodes, you will notice the file information turns out to be different from what was anticipated. It provided fictitious scenes depicting the significance of the secret file in the previous episode.The Operation Strix agents believed it might contain information about the cause of the war between Ostania and Westalis, but no.
In this episode, the agents do not find what they are looking for. Instead, they find Colonel Dossier’s diary, which he does not want his wife to know about. Why? It contains photos of actresses he has collected over the years, which I did not see coming. I expected it to contain vital information that would aid Operation Strix’s mission, especially since Loid is skeptical that the dairy is merely a personal possession. On the other hand, it is somewhat hilarious due to the misinterpretation of the file. The agents think what is so secret about the file is not what Dossier thinks. At the same time, I feel sorry for Loid and Frost for going through all those hassles for nothing.
The comparison of Frost’s love for Loid to the friction of an object is interesting. It emphasizes her point with a few words to understand the complexities of her love. At the park, Frost has a hard time hitting the tennis ball back to Yor, who accepts her tennis challenge. The speed or force of the ball’s movement carries a lot of weight, which equals to how she feels toward him.
The sensation of Frost and Loid winning the tennis match and him obtaining the file is unappealing.There is no tension in the match, nor is there any time pressure. Even though the timer is shown, the music is uplifting and energetic, and the opponents’ dirty tactics are used. Also, the likelihood of winning and getting the file is predictable. In previous episodes, the repeated pattern of Loid preparing ahead of time and disguising himself to get the job done never failed.
Overall, this episode is good. It is amusing to watch some scenes as well as others. The beginning does not have much impact to capture attention. Everything is predictable and expected to turn out. It is only in the middle and toward the end of the episode that things start to get interesting. The post-credit scene shows that Frost is practicing hard on her swing of the tennis racket. Even if she loses this time, she will continue to play tennis with Yor. Therefore, it seems like we will see her more in the future episode.
