Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban Isn’t “Feeling” Your Feelings

As the college football season quickly approaches there is one clear cut favorite in the SEC. Year in and year out Nick Saban has the Crimson Tide ready to roll. This year is no different. No surprise once again Alabama is my favorite to win it all. Bill O’Brien is the offensive coordinator bringing another level of intensity to the program after guiding Penn State back from the dead, coaching the Houston Texans, and spending time under Bill Belichick with the Patriots.

Grit and fire is what builds any team with ties to Belichick and we know Saban is the biggest branch to grow off that tree. One thing Nick addressed going into the 2021 CFB season is players in this age getting “caught up” in their feelings. You know this constant need to be coddled and hand held. Something I too find to be down right offensive. There is a case to be made it is part of what is wrong with society. Saban recently gave some comments about these kind of players during one of his Coke present press conferences.

“You know, people can’t be overwhelmed by their circumstances. You get overwhelmed by constantly talking about negative things — how I feel, how tired I am, whatever it is. Fall camp, practice at this time of year without playing a game every week is very challenging. When you talk about that stuff all the time, it just creates an epidemic of the ‘poor mes.’ The season is going to create tremendous challenges, challenges in every game. We’ve got lots of losable games we play. Lots of challenges out there, whether we play at home or on the road.”

“We’ve got some guys who do a great job of (overcoming difficult circumstances), set a good example for that. But we’ve got a lot of players who still get overwhelmed by their feelings. We’re going to do what we can to get more and more of the players on our team to find a mindset that you need to sustain difficult circumstances and overcome adversity in games and challenges in games sure to come.”

Comments like this proves that if I had a son good enough to play high level college football that Saban would be one of the first coaches I would have on the list to help “groom” my son for the rigors of real life. Society’s children have wrapped their arms around kids growing up too entitled and in turn they can not deal with the trials “actual life” will throw at them as they age.

Saban is ready for the CFB season. SEC is once again the powerhouse of college football. And odds are Clemson and Alabama will be left standing near the end.

  1. I “felling” you article and will still share it but you should pay attention to college football more. You will have a different ending to your ‘left Standing’ on Sept. 4th when my Dawgs correct the NCAA college rankings and perspective. ON September the 4th the Georgia will bring home the ACC championship trophy for the third shelf. the top two shelves will be filled later.

  2. Georgia is in the SEC not ACC. I should pay attention to the CFB? Every year Georgia is supposed to do something. Every year Bama knocks them out. And I’m not a Bama fan. But, until Georgia “breaks through” they will remain on the outside looking in.
