Well another week another American having to give up their freedom of speech. Jack Del Rio is a lifetime football man. Played ball in college at USC. Hard nose. The Football players football player. He’s carried that over to his coaching. A highly successful defensive coordinator in the NFL that turned this in to multiple stints as a head coach. Three times Del Rio won 11 or more games in a NFL season. Many coaches never sniff a 11 win season. Much less 3 of them. Del Rio is a true NFL lifer. Without guys like Del Rio the league would not exist. 11 years as a player. The rest of his time as a coach.
This week Del Rio did something millions of Americans have sat in their home, or among friends, or in places that may not always have been in ear shot of other people and said “why is January 6th getting this much coverage” but, the “BLM riots did not”? Why was this lawlessness so widely accepted with no qualms? Where are we as a country? What is happening here? What happened on January 6th is not something anybody is going to condone but, if you think the lack of checks and balances of law during the BLM riots did not partially spawn the 6th then you simply are not paying attention.
We watched in horror as businesses around this country were robbed, burned, and looted without so much as a blink of a eye from liberal lawmakers in liberal areas. I still believe it is “so” odd that most of this destruction was done in liberal counties in this country. We watched as other Americans died. In many cases Black Americans. Politicians praised the riots. Mayors like Jenny Durkan and Ted Wheeler in Seattle or Portland just watched as their cities burned.
Americans were frustrated. We found out this week that Jack Del Rio was one of us. He was frustrated. The condoning of such violence and destruction using the “excuse” of social justice was surreal. What country were we living in that this was so widely accepted and praised?
I started a war on my personal social media January 6th. I lost friends January 6th. Why? Because I pointed out the hypocrisy of the overreaction of the Capitol Riots vs the nothing burger the media gave to the BLM riots. I could not believe what I was hearing and watching from the media. The sky was falling! All the while I’m thinking the clouds were hitting the ground for the last 18 months and it was either ignored or praised. Remember CNN and their insane “mostly peaceful” protesting commentary literally standing in front of a burning building. The fact is the majority of Patriots at the Capitol were law abiding. Peaceful. But, the media will not let you know that. Del Rio simply put said “it was a dust up”. Can I blame him for feeling like he just witnessed a full blown sandstorm the previous 18 months? No way.
The NFL and the Washington Commanders are cowards. Ron Rivera (who I did respect) is a coward. He threw his friend under the bus. He caved to the liberal left and fined Del Rio for having a opinion. A opinion that seems to be wrapped in fact. The shield is only a shield to the liberal woke players and activist in uniform in the NFL. Owners are cowards because they themselves are largely conservatives. They did not speak out. At some point players and coaches that are conservative have to start being more like Jack Del Rio. Brave. This week he was. He said what millions of Americans do not have the platform to say. For that I applaud Del Rio. A lifetime football coach that should be celebrated by us.
The Patriotic average Joe.
