Raised By Wolves
Created by Aaron Guzikowsk, “Raised By Wolves” (2020- ) is an American sci-fi TV series on HBO Max. It’s about saving humanity despite the two different beliefs: Atheism vs. Mithraic, worship of the sun god Sol. In the beginning, the series doesn’t tell what’s really going on. It just mainly focuses on the two androids called Mother and Father raising 12 human embryos on the planet Kepler-22b. Only one survives to start a new human civilization and to preserve the atheist belief.
In the later episodes, flashbacks of the war on Earth between the Atheist and Mithraic and the memory of the androids’ creator reveals the background of the story. It also reveals the war between the Atheist and Mithraic isn’t over yet. Mother destroys the Heaven’s Ark, Mithraic base, and take the children to her base. Meanwhile, the Mithraic’s armies hunt down the androids and ambush their base.
Manifest
Created by Jeff Rake, “Manifest” (2018 – ?) is an American sci-fi mystery TV series on produced by NBC which was sold to Netflix after Season 3. It’s about passengers on Flight 828 that have been missing for years. Out of the blue, Flight 828 with the passengers appear. People and the media cannot stop talking about the situation. Government cannot ignore the situation either. They hire scientists to help them figure out what had happened while one scientist wants to know the process of producing a miracle. Some groups are targeting the passengers who have the ability to hear their “callings” (voices and images in their head to save people). Later, manipulation between the passengers arises due to misunderstanding of whose side some passengers are on: the government or the passengers.
Brave New World
Created by Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor, and David Weiner, “Brave New World” (2020) is an American sci-fi drama TV series available on Peacock. It’s about two different worlds that are in conflict with each other. A utopian society prohibits violence, money, and privacy even in a relationship. Everyone is connected through a device people put on their eyes. That way, everyone knows what others are doing or where they’re going. Monogamy is shamed, and no one should be called a mother or a father. Everyone always take pills to feel pleasure and to prevent themselves from feeling sad, angry, or frustrated. Everyone has a job, but is it by choice?
Another society is opposite of the utopia society. People living in the utopia society often go there to a place called the “savage land” for vacation and to learn from the society that is so different from theirs. Marriage and family are allowed. Families live on their land. Violence, greed, and cheating is not exempted.
Debris
Created by J.H. Way-man, “Debris” (2020) is an American sci-fi TV series that premiered on NBC. This series has a “X-Files” feel. A large chunk of debris falling from the sky has an effect on people. Two secretive international agents along with the others are trying to figure out what’s going on to save people lives. Two secretive international agents go out into the field to search for clues to keep an update for the other agents. They always end up finding something unusual that cannot be explained even though they find different solutions to save lives.
Feed
Feed (2019 – ?) is a British sci-fi TV series available on Virgin Media and Prime Video. It focuses on a device called “The Feed” invented by Lawerence Hatfield’s family. What the device does is share everyone’s information, memories, and feelings, which makes it easier to connect with others. Some people who have the device implanted experience signs of distress or attack mode. Hatfield’s family looks into the situation to figure out what’s happening to the device. Meanwhile, a group of resistance target “The Feed” facility to disable the network, but something goes wrong.
