In this episode, Hyoma gets to stay with Nagatsuki’s family for a year after Yu agrees to it. He now has the chance to observe more about the family, hoping to change his view. However, that is not all his grandfather has for him. The same is true for the six Tsukumogami. They have a plan in mind for him, which presents the next stage of his journey.
The revealing of Nagatsuki’s family request in exchange for Hyoma staying with the family is surprising and funny. I thought the purpose of letting Hyoma stay at the house was for him to overcome his hatred toward all Tsukumogami. Episode 1 shows Haori’s conversation with Hyoma’s grandfather. It only shows his side of the request. Also, while watching the pre-credit scene, I never considered the six Tsukumogami having another motive than to get along with humans, but I was mistaken. They want to fulfill Nagatsuki’s grandfather’s promise: to find a suitable husband for Botan.
The repeated pattern of defeating the enemies of the Nagatsuki family is not interesting. There is really no challenge in the fighting between the adversaries and supporters. It’s not like the allies strive to stand back up after losing to the enemies. It is predictable that Hyoma and the six Tsukiumogami will capture the villains in no time. In the fighting scene at the end, Hyoma is able to cut off the new character Hainarashi’s hands, who tries to take Botan captive. Then, Nagi and Yu come, and all three of them end up sealing Hinarashi in no time, which suggests that he may not be the main antagonist. If he is not, then who is? Despite the fact that I assumed he or Hikaki was the main villain, I have yet to identify him.It makes me wonder if there is one who has yet to reveal herself, or if there are none.
Overall, this episode is enjoyable to watch. Nothing groundbreaking. It is more about Hyoma embracing his romantic side with Botan than his uneasy side, which was never shown in previous episodes. It heightens the understanding of the characters more.
