Meet Robot Bella Who Works as a Server

Like other businesses, the bowling alley used robotic technology to address the labor shortage. Introducing Bella, a robot server at Maple Lanes Countryside in Florida. She has a cylinder-like shape, with a narrow front and back. The two sides are open to let customers and staff members add and remove pizzas as well as other foods and snacks from her food trays. She had her front-facing eyes open. Her back reveals which lane she is taking her meal to. The top of the cylinder was partially open to allow items to be placed on her top tray. She is just the right height for customers to reach their orders while seated or bent over.

Bella’s work performance is in good standing. She could pretty much do simple multi-tasks. She brought out food and drinks for customers, directed them to the bowling lane, and sang songs, which makes her a valuable robot employee. She helps to reduce the workload of other employees who have other tasks to take care of. She assists in reducing customer wait time and carries on with her job in an efficient manner. She also helps the company reduce human employee accidents and injuries caused by lifting large trays of food. Four trays of food and snacks can be carried by Bella.

The manager of Maple Lanes and customers were satisfied with the robot. Children enjoyed interacting with Bella, and we will see more human and robot interaction in the future. The demand for automation and robotic technology is high. Every business is now quick to jump on this trend, not only to combat the shortage of labour but to stay on top of the changes in the marketplace.

The world is changing rapidly as technology continues to advance and as political decisions continue to affect our lives and around the world. In the future, more robots will be employed in a variety of jobs. More businesses are seeing the benefits of robotic technology as a solution to the shortage of workers. Such advantages include increasing productivity and efficiency in doing repetitive work and allowing human employees to focus on strategies and management tasks. Others include providing a safe and friendly workplace and staying on top of the game in a competitive marketplace. Human employees will have the opportunity to interact with robots when working together and doing different tasks. This is the same with customers, as they will come into contact with robots in the workplace. As a result, will human-robot interaction become the norm? If that happens, will human-human interaction decrease, stay the same, or increase?
