Season 1 Episode 15 Review

The Forger family reunites after going their separate ways to put an end to the terrorist activity. Keith is caught, even though the scene does not show he actually gets caught, but it is self-explanatory. Yor calls the cop on him after he drives into the street pole when she refuses to move out of the road. Experimental dogs that failed the Ostania government research project are now in the hands of the Westalis operation. Only the white dog is still with Anya as their bond continues to develop throughout this episode.

Loid tries to convince Anya to hand over the white dog to Sherwood, who needs to take the dog to safety. It is dangerous for the dog, who was a test subject for the Ostania project and used as a weapon by the terrorists, to walk around in public. Anya absolutely refuses by shouting “no” as if she really means it, which is not a surprise. The bond she and the white dog developed in Episodes 13 and 14 is quite strong. She does not see the dog as a threat but as a kind dog whom she can trust and rely on. Loid, on the other hand, is worried if the dog falls into the wrong hands.

What Anya is going to do next shows the other side of her that previous episodes have not shown before. Her bond with Loid is solid. She always listened to him and helped him out on his mission if she could. This time is a different story. She stops helping him out if her term is not met, and she is serious about it. Her emotions and conflict with Loid have led her to make her last strategy to keep the dog. She tries to make a deal with him by not going to school if he takes away the dog from her. That gets Loid and Sherwood’s attention, and she knows it. Their mission depends on her performance in school, and they cannot jeopardize the mission to maintain the peace between Ostania and Westalis.

Sherwood decides to let her keep the dog in order to keep their operation going. Loid is there to look over the dog, and there are enough experimental dogs to handle the case. She is not worried like she would be if Anya stopped going to school. She is focused on completing the mission. However, there is more to her when Anya asks whether experimental dogs are abused or not. She is surprised by her question as well as by Loid, and her reaction suddenly shifts from being an agent to being an empathic mother. She and Anya make a promise that the experimental dog will not be abused.

A Westalis agent brings the dog, who had a health check earlier, to the Forger’s family. Anya is happy to see the dog. He is too, but he took a step back and just stood there for a moment as if there was something wrong. Not that the Forger’s family would harm him, but him being a test subject has a negative effect on him. A flashback of the painful tests he had to go through makes him wary of others. He waits for a while but decides to step forward as a way of showing his bravery in stepping into a new journey in his life.

The rest of the episode not only shows the emotion Anya has with the white dog, but also Loid’s feelings towards the family. At the park with his family, his internal dialogue shows the emotional conflict in him. Seeing how Anya is with the dog, whom she finally names Bond, he does not want to let go of the family. Yet, he knows what he has to do once the mission is over.

In Episode 15, the focus is on Anya and Bond, a new member to the Forger family. It is not only hilarious, but it has several or more characters that the audience can empathize with. The positive qualities they have, such as the bond between Anya and Bond, are related to real-life experience. The minor problem with the episode is Yor’s internal dialogue about her other side of work. It doesn’t sound funny, and it contradicts her personality.
