Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 19 Review

This episode is again divided into two parts with different scenarios that are not related to each other. Both are pretty hilarious, but they start with a serious tone. The character’s action and dialogue create a persistent mood of negativity. A good example is the situation at the beginning of the episode. The CEO stands in front of the window in the building, looking outside the city at night. Yet he feels downhearted, as if there is no hope anymore. His remarks to the employee imply that his company has failed and that he will no longer retain the position of CEO.

The CEO’s son, George, creates an emotion where other characters feel sympathy for him. When he expresses his family crisis to the students at school, they feel sorry for him. They then try to make his last wishes at school into a memorial for him to treasure forever. That way, when he is sad, he can think back to the happiest moment.

As the episode continues, the scenes show that the situation turns into a comedy. There are a lot of misconceptions among adults and kids about an ordinary situation. The kids interpret it differently from the adults and vice versa. It also shows how kids react to a classmate who is experiencing a family crisis. George is having an “aha” moment when his father tells him that Damian Group has brought the company. He realizes he made a mistake when his father’s company went bankrupt, and he will not be able to attend Eden Academy anymore. He and his family will also have to move to Westalis. He is wrong about everything.

Now that he has to go back to school and face all the students who gave him his last wishes on his last day, he feels pretty embarrassed. As he walks into the school, students are staring at him as if they have questions about why he is coming back to school. As they pass Damian in the school hallway, his friends and Becky basically tell him to get their belongings back. They suddenly have an emotional shift from sympathy to apathy, which relates to real-life experience.

The second scenario is pretty much the same. There is a misperception between Yuri and Anya. Anya goes to school without taking her gym uniform with her. Yuri sees her gym uniform in her room and assumes that she has forgotten it.

Suddenly, she goes into panic mode as she imagines the worst consequences Anya could face. This happens when she gets to school and cannot find Anya. The negative thought causes her to feel uneasy, only to discover that she does not need to. Anya does not have a gym class today.

Overall, this episode is not about Loid’s mission. It is more about social behavior and the misimpression of family circumstances. This episode has a happy ending similar to Episode 9 after Loid finds out how much Yor knows. He cheers her up for being so negative about herself and asks her to join him for lunch. She brightens up as she realizes that everything will be fine again.

Rating: 8/10
