In this episode, Fiona Frost, also known as Nightfall, is the main character. She is a WISE agent who must collaborate with Loid and is torn between her character and her ideologies. She aspires to replace Yor as Loid’s fictitious wife. The post-credit scene also focuses on the misunderstanding that caused Bond and Anya to argue. The post-credit scene and the episode share a comedic concept, but the humor and mood are created by the characters’ actions and inner monologues.
Throughout the episode, the inner dialogue and actions do not create a sense of humor. The love triangle feeling, as well as jealousy, cause sadness and a lack of humor. Yor’s imagination of Loid being with Frost makes her feel less confident about herself. Frost, who is in love with Loid, does not think highly of Yor as his wife. She criticizes her negatively in every way, ranging from parenting Anya to helping Loid accomplish his mission. Also, she thinks she can do a way better job than her, which consequently led to her developing a contempt for her, which can relate to a real-life situation.
The only part that is entertaining is how Anya changes the mood of the circumstance. After reading Frost’s mind and seeing the alternative to her teaching strategy, she turns to Yor for comfort. She is shocked at what Frost would do to her if she were her mother. She also is not very fond of her, especially when she tells her that she will bring some sweets next time. She returns her gaze to Yor. Later, she tries to point out indirectly that she does not want Frost to replace Yor and that she is happy with the Forger family.
The post-credit scene is heartwarming. It ends with a happy ending rather than an unresolved one, like the one in this episode. The conflict and the resolution between the two characters are somewhat predictable when someone steps in to resolve the issue. In this case, it is Loid who helps Anya and Bond get along again. He stitches back Anya’s penguin doll, which the dog had previously destroyed. Also, he lifts her up by changing her view of the doll’s scars through positive dialogue. At the end, Bond and the penguin toy sign the peace treaty by shaking hands.
Episode 21 is OK because of the post-credit scene. It makes me feel like everything turns out alright in the end. The close-up shots and the action, as well as the dialogue between characters, express and create emotion and thoughts. The same thing happens throughout the episode’s main body, however, the characters tend to convey their emotions more through their inner voices.
